Common Thread

The common thread is that I love when people are authentic. When they are themselves as they were created to be. This is what melts my marshmallow-Peeps and Smores. What I enjoy about an aptitude battery that helps people see how they are through a fresh perspective-Apt. And visually, the collages that bring together the themes of what I’m seeking, through people of the past and prayers for now too.

Whatever people create or contribute, they do so best from that place.

Art, interiors, food, literature, movies, music, hospitality. God, relationships, work, school, parenting, health, conversation. Whatever it is, there’s always more fire to it when it’s authentic. When people are able to recognize the way they are singularly and uniquely integrated in the work of the whole, in a way that serves as an invitation for others to collaborate.

I feel best when I am that way. (S’more)

I am also guilty of stepping away from there. (Peep)

Authenticity is generative and fruitful. It’s the quality you can’t always put your finger on but know when it’s there.

It motivates my work. It melts my butter. It melts my marshmallow.

I can’t resist trying to capture it, appreciating it, exploring it and encouraging it.

It is the common thread in what I seek and do, and I consider that thread to be stitching a beautiful quilt.
